A Long Way Down
It's nice to have stairs, instead of just a sloped stone floor. You wonder who built this place? And why? That wondering takes up some of the climb, but there's still plenty to go. You're quite bored by the time you see the end. Floor! A sold floor, down there below you! You've never been so glad to see something so mundane as a flat patch of ground. You bound down the last few steps, emerging into a grand circular chamber. It's quite perfectly formed. If someone dug this out, it must have taken immense work! There are three tunnels leading away from here. You don't know which way you're facing so deep underground, so you just assign "north" to the side of the room with no tunnel and a notably large crack in the wall. In fact, that crack looks big enough to walk through, as well!
